The area

The area, known as Station Area, has evolved after the completion of a railroad connection between The Hague and Amsterdam. The train station Hollands Spoor is the oldest train station of The Hague and gained importance with the opening of the railroad to Rotterdam in 1847. From 1970 a lot of old buildings were replaced for new ones as part of a restructuring plan. Today the reconstruction is still not completed. The area is home to many students. The nearby China Town is attracting thousands of visitors each year who come to see the typical Chinese Archways that were placed in 2009 and to enjoy the many restaurants.
